In the varied history of the Society several 'odd' Commonwealth medals, mainly awarded for various competitions, have made their appearance existed for a period of time, and then been rendered obsolete. This chapter deals with such medals.
Competition Medal (Pupil Teachers)
First design - 1892 - 1904 Medal - Silver or bronze, circular 32 mm diameter, claw and ring suspension. Obverse - Rescuer towing victim through water, shore in the distance. Around the outer edge the words "The Life Saving Society -Established 1891". Reverse - A wreath, open at the top and tied at the bottom, with space in the center for appropriate engraving including the words "Pupil Teachers Life Saving Competition...."
