Patron and Governor's Badge of Office

These bages of office are worn by the Branch Patron (the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta and the Branch Governor, during their terms of office and retained by them on their retirement. Although the badges were instituted in 1979/80, in commemoration of Alberta's 75 Anniversary Celebrations, they have been presented retroactively from 1969 the year that the current title - 'Alberta and Territories Branch' was changed from the original 'Alberta Branch'.

Medal

Gilt, enamel and stones (set in the crown), floral shape, approx. Pe x 21/4", ring suspender with clasp for further suspension from a neck ribbon.


Obverse

A representation of Alberta's floral symbol, the prairie rose in pink and areen enamel with the crest of the Society - a circle with the words 'Royal Life Saving Society' aeon which is superimposed a boat hook and oar crossed and tied with a center knot or rope - in blue and white enamel. Surmounting the top petal of the rose is a St. Edward's crow in enamel with the jewels of the crown set in stones. This crown carries the ring suspender and the neck ribbon clasp.


Reverse

A maple leaf with the letters 'R.L.S.S.' thereon and the words "Alberta And Territories Branch To".


Ribbon

Neck ribbon – 11/4" wide in the Society colours of light blue with a centre stripe of white and two intermediate side stripes of dark blue.
